Introduction to Slot Booking
project44's Slot Booking application allows facility administrators and personnel to proactively manage shipment bookings. Powered by real-time tracking and predictive ETAs through integration with the Visibility Operations Center (VOC), Slot Booking enables yard personnel to monitor and manage the daily operation of trailers in warehouses, distribution centers, or manufacturing facilities from a single platform.
The Slot Booking application is visible in project44's Yard Management System (YMS).
This workflow describes the process for scheduling trailers, carrying a shipment created in the VOC, for arrival at a yard facility. The YMS is integrated with the VOC, allowing shipment information to flow between the two platforms.
-
The Customer creates a shipment in the VOC. The shipment is then visible in the Slot Booking application.
-
Site personnel view or search for the unplanned booking and schedule a shipment at the respective site based on available appointments. Appointment availability is determined by the schedule configured by the site administrator. The site admin sets the days and hours of operation for the site as well as the facility's shipment capacity (i.e., the number of shipments that can be accepted at the gate every hour). The Carrier and the site personnel can view and reschedule booked appointments as needed.
-
The Carrier views the planned and unplanned shipments in the Appointment Manager console.
-
Onsite, the facility manager updates appointment milestones as the shipment is loaded or unloaded and the trailer departs. Onsite, the shipment's arrival and departure are completed through the Gate console or manually completed by the Facility Manager.
This workflow describes the process for booking trailers, carrying a shipment not created in the VOC, for arrival at a yard facility.
-
Site personnel learn that a shipment has arrived or is about to arrive at the facility without a booked appointment.
-
The site personnel adds the shipment information (shipment number, carrier, driver, and load information) to the unplanned bookings list in the YMS.
-
The site personnel books the shipment for the next available appointment for the arriving shipment.
This workflow describes the process for Carriers to book the shipment appointment at a facility themselves. [Need a session to build this section out more].
