When is Shipment Information Updated in ClearMetal?
Updates to Order, Booking, and Bill of Lading Details
At the top of each details page you can see when your visibility was last updated. When sales or purchase order data is received from a customer we immediately process and display this information in ClearMetal. If order information is changed and retransmitted, the updated information is immediately displayed.
There are several events that update shipment status:
-
New EDI message is received from an ocean carrier
-
New vessel location is reported by our AIS partner
-
New order information is posted by the customer
Updates to Container Trip Details
Container trips have two types of shipment updates, an EDI update and a vessel position update.
EDI updates are processed and displayed as milestones immediately after ClearMetal receives new data from the ocean carrier. Occasionally, ClearMetal will receive an EDI message from an ocean carrier long after the milestone or status change has occurred. This is a latency issue and can be caused for a variety of reasons.
Vessel position is updated immediately after data is received from an AIS provider, which sends position information as frequently as every two hours, depending on satellite reception.
