Which Milestones are Predicted by ClearMetal?
For each ocean container shipment, ClearMetal predicts up to four major milestones. The type of bill of lading (BOL) determines which major milestones are predicted. A port destination BOL predicts three major milestones, and a door destination BOL predicts four major milestones:
-
Vessel load at origin (port destination and door destination BOLs)
-
Discharge at destination (port destination and door destination BOLs)
-
Available at destination (port destination and door destination BOLs)
-
Delivery at final location (only door destination BOLs)
Each of these predictions are generated when the first EDI status message is sent by an ocean carrier. The predictions are recalculated and updated when a new EDI status message is sent by the ocean carrier.
Predictions update continuously throughout the container journey. This allows earlier and more frequent alerts about delays and exceptions. Predictions are generated from multiple data sources including historical 315 status updates, live 315 status updates, and AIS vessel location data.
Milestone Prediction |
Prediction Definition |
---|---|
Vessel Load at Origin |
Prediction of when the full container will be loaded onto the first vessel at the port of origin. |
Discharge at Destination |
Prediction of when a container will be offloaded from its final vessel at its final discharge port. |
Available at Destination |
Prediction of when a container will be available for pickup from an ocean terminal or rail ramp depending on the BoL. |
Delivery at Final Location |
Prediction of when a container will arrive at the final destination listed on a door bill of lading. |
Carrier Plan |
Carriers most recently provided estimated time for when the major milestone will occur. |
Actual |
The date and time when the major milestone actually occurred. |
