Gather API Credentials
To start, you will need the following:
- UPS Website User ID
- UPS Website User Password
UPS Authentication Requirements
- UPS Website User ID
- UPS Website User Password
- Primary Contact's Contact Information
Step-by Step Instructions - For both Volume LTL and LTL
- Visit the UPS Developer website at https://www.ups.com/upsdeveloperkit?loc=en_US and sign in.
- Follow the steps in the UPS Get Started Guide to obtain your OAuth credentials. Through this process, you will obtain your Client ID and Client Secret. NOTE: UPS is no longer providing new access keys. If you have an existing API integration with UPS using an access key, UPS recommends switching to a client ID and secret using OAuth.
- Follow the steps in the UPS Get Started Guide to move to production.
Upload API Credentials
Load your organization's credentials into the project44 Capacity Provider Accounts portal. For help with the process, see Carrier Credentials Help.
- Username = UPS Website Username
- Password = UPS Website Password
- License Number = UPS API Access Key
- Account Number = UPS Parcel Account Number (Shipper acct. is already tied to user ID)
- Enable density-based pricing = Check this box if your account has density-based pricing enabled
- Bill To Address
- Payment Terms
- Direction

If your account has density pricing enabled, you can check the 'Enable density-based rating' checkbox within the UPS capacity provider card on the project44 dashboard. If you have questions about density-based rating, or if you want to know if your account is set up with it, please reach out to your UPS account representative.
Additional Step-by-Step Instructions - Specifically for Volume LTL
The UPS Volume LTL Rating credentials are typically the same as your Regular LTL credentials. However, UPS requires a signed Volume Partner Agreement to utilize the service.
- Request an updated copy of the UPS Freight Volume Partner Agreement for the Volume Rating API from your UPS account representative
- Review, sign, and send the attached form to GroundFreightAPISupport@ups.com
