Description of Convey User Roles

There are several types of roles that you can assign a user of Convey. This article is intended to outline those roles as well as describe their capabilities and examples of who may be appropriate for that role.

This list of user roles is in order of more access to less access.

Role Use Case Permissions
Account Admin Highest level user in Convey, typically for managers, with access to all features, including account settings.
  • All Operator role functionality, plus:
  • Access to Admin Settings
  • Ability to save and edit Shipments views
  • Ability to save and edit Cases views

Operator

The base-line Convey user with no permissions to adjust account level settings. This is typically a tactical customer care, operations or logistics team member.
  • Access to Shipments
  • Access to Shipment Details to all page actions
  • Access to Analytics
  • If Cases is enabled, access to Cases
  • If Initiate is enabled, access to Schedule Pickups, Saved Addresses and Saved Products
Dropship Returns Operator This is an Initiate user whose focus is scheduling freight returns. This role has the same permissions as an Operator role, but has different defaults on the Schedule Pickup view to increase efficiency.
  • All Operator role functionality, plus:
  • The Schedule Pickup page includes these defaults:
    • The Service 'I am the' is Third-Party instead of no selection
    • Origin is a residence instead of business
    • Destination is a business instead of a residence
    • The Returns Number field is required
Dropship Vendor

This is an Initiate user who is a dropship vendor for the shipper. This means the vendor is shipping directly to the consumer.
  • Access to Shipments with visibility to only shipments executed by that user
  • Access to Shipment Details, but no costs are displayed
  • Access to the Pickups section
    • This role does have the ability to select a carrier - this step is skipped and a carrier is automatically chosen based on the logic for the account
    • The Service 'I am the' is Third-Party instead of nothing selected
    • The Origin defaults to a list of the vendor's shipping locations
